About the Dunns

Ravenwood Farm Foundation is owned and operated by Dale and Chris Dunn. A husband and wife team who live and work in Keystone Heights, FL, the Dunns have been involved in the horse community for over 30 years. In that time, Chris has worked as a Hunter Jumper Trainer and Thoroughbred breeder, and both she and Dale have served as board members for local Hunter Jumper and Dressage associations.

During Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, the Dunns became an integral part of the horse rescue efforts in Louisiana and Mississippi. Working as full time, unpaid volunteers, they were liaisons to the Department of Agriculture for Habitat for Horses. Chris also served as a Director and Treasurer for Habitat for Horses, Inc. The largest equine protection organization nationwide, Habitat involves a great deal of emergency preparation and response, but everything from education to helping abused horses, as well.

In December 2005, the Dunns founded the North Florida Horse Rescue. Their mission was to promote and secure the safety and well being of all horses before, during, and after a disaster. In addition, they sought to educate the public about responsible horse ownership and to increase public awareness of the necessity to microchip for identification. In 2006, North Florida Horse Rescue merged with Habitat for Horses.

The Dunns now spend all their time assisting in the emergency rescue efforts of horses as well as Min Pins! Involved in a staggering amount of national, state, and county organizations, their list of commitments is very impressive. They hold educational forums on disaster preparedness and Chris is a member of both the Florida and Louisiana SART (State Animal Rescue Team) and the PetSmart Emergency Team. They also served as founders and directors for the CERT Large Animal Recovery Unit, Inc. and Chris was the Commander for the mounted unit.  When she resigned, CERT disbanded, but the people involved are now members of Ravenwood Farm Foundation's Mounted Emergency Response Team.

She and Dale continue efforts to train and educate for large animal emergency rescue and response under Ravenwood Farm Foundation, Inc. The Foundation is a continuation of their lifelong goals, an expression of their unconditional love for all animals, and a tremendous service to the community.
